I was reading a review of the movie "The Rite". He said that this is a true horror film, Something that hasn't been made in a while. Which made me think. He is right. There hasn't been a really good horror movie made for ages. There has been plenty of shock or scare movies. And by scare i mean, make people do little jump etc. Not truly a horror though.
Like alien. That was a horror movie. But aliens was a fright movie. Exorcist was a horror. But the sequels were more fright movies. I think the closest they have come to making a true horror movie, were the paranormal activities series. I know they weren't the scariest of movies. But they put up that atmosphere where people are facing something terrible without a knowing what to do or how to protect themselves. I don't know it might be down to personal taste and what each individual sees as horrifying. For me that chase sence at the start of 28 weeks later was excellent.
