I decided to check IMDB to see how many horror movie remakes there were per decade going back to 1916 to see if there truly are more remakes than ever, and these were the results according to IMDB:
1916-1930 - 10
1931-1940 - 10
1941-1950 - 9
1951-1960 - 15
