I personally do not care who goes to see Let The Right One In or Let Me In or if people prefer the American to the Swedish version, but when I say I have no intention of watching the remake and you start making snide little remarks like " you're going to watch it at least twice anyway aren't you?" I do feel I'm being pushed and that puts my back up.

You, as in the film watching public in general, are likely to watch a good subtitled film, or indeed ANY film two times if it is good enough.
If it has subtitles, and you choose to watch it a second time, then you can then turn the subtitles off , having already been acquainted with the plot, so that you can pay closer attention to al the visual nuances that you may have missed the first time while you were busy concentrating on the subtitles.
