It's hard going from somebody who only has to have their own approval and that of certain loved ones to somebody who has to gain the approval of strangers or the outside world. Whenever I get a bad review, I almost automatically dream about college registration.

Ah, that makes sense. i have really been wondering thinking in terms of "what next" when the book is done. Whether or not it will be published, how will it received, will people hate it, etc. etc... Thanks.

and: isn't there replacement surgery that could fix your foot?

The bone in question is a sesamoid bone (tibial halucis sesamoid bone) that does not articulate with other bones (no joints) but instead is ensconced in the soft tissue of ligaments and acts as a fulcrum for the ball of the foot. To replace it would reduce the integrity of the tendons and ligaments involved even further by cutting into them. Plus, i have never once heard of this surgery being an option. i am actually a veterinarian by training and have looked into my options, but a replacement surgery here would likely cause more problems. Of course, i could be full of horse dookey, but so far i have not heard of any reasonable treatment options. Thanks for the tip though. Ashe.
