Well, that's kind of similar. We weren't talking about rating the effectiveness of a particular scene, how grizzly or "cool" their death "scene" was, but the characters themselves. Who we considered to be worthwhile and interesting characers that ended up dying, as opposed to the countless fodder, the thousands of deaths that occur in horror films that are just there, basically, as a prop, to be used and discarded.
There's a qualitative difference between the likes of Father Karras, Marion Crane or Ben, than say "that one scene in that one movie- you know, the gross one."
