That movie is one of the many reasons why I think that Gus Van Sant should be shot in the face.

I have a hard time considering remakes in either a "Best" or "Worst" category. I consider a remake either "Good," "OK," or "Just unnecessary."
Definitions:
- Good = As good as or better than the original. Either adds or improves on the original movie.
- OK = Not bad. Not great, but not bad.
- Just unnecessary = Does nothing to improve upon the original movie and is something that I can live without.
Good- The Grudge - Better than the original. Shimizu had a chance to edit and improve upon his iconic masterpiece
- My Bloody Valentine 3D - An absolute blast. Uses a new vehicle to create an homage to not only the original but 80s slashers in general
- Quarantine - Better than the original. There. I said it. Almost shot for shot EXACTLY like the original, but what gives it the edge is that I liked the ending better
- House on Haunted Hill - GREAT remake. Still love the original, but I thoroughly enjoy watching the remake as well. Definitely took it up an notch with special effects; did more than the original could do
- Wizard of Gore - Better than the original. Then again, I'm not a huge HGL fan, but this is definitey a must-see for horror lovers
- Willard - I like this movie probably more than I should. Not sure why, but I am a huge fan
OK- Thirteen Ghosts - Good remake. Creepy ghosts. Weak story, but interesting to watch
- House of Wax - I think this is a successful movie; creepy and well-done
- Black Christmas - Does not even come CLOSE to the original, but in terms of a home invasion flick, it's not that bad
- Halloween - I'm not a fan, but I understand what Zombie was trying to do. At least he tried to add someting to it, though I tend to lean this one toward "Unnecessary" because of how much I adore the original
- Dawn of the Dead - I think that this movie starts out REALLY strong but then peters out. Wish it kept its energy throughout
Unnecessary- Friday the 13th - Absolutely unnecessary.
- King Kong (sorry Ferox)
- Godzilla
- Planet of the Apes
- The Wickerman
- Psycho
- The Hitcher
- The Haunting
- The Fog - Now this was just a bad movie. Period.
Notes:
- I do not consider The Thing to be a remake; I consider it to be another adaptation of Who Goes There?
- I have seen the remake of The Ring and hated it; then again, I haven't seen the original, so it's possible that I might just hate the original too - I will reserve my judgement on this one until I have seen the original
- I need to watch Cronenberg's The Fly :o
- I need to see the TCM remake
