What are your top 5 written favorites?

Coin Locker babies - Ryu Murakami
Easily one of the most intense and horrifying stories I've ever read. Not necessarily horror per se, but enough violence and bizarre imagery to please the horror fan. This author also wrote the novel that Takashi Miike's Audition was based on, but it's hard to find translated copies.

Lunar Park - Bret Easton Ellis
This is the most recent novel by Bret Easton Ellis, of American Psycho fame. This is less violent, but somehow far more terrifying. This works best when you've read his other works, since he references them repeatedly throughout.

Geek Love - Katherine Dunn
This is also a contender for most intense and horrifying story I've ever read. The violence is strange, and the characters are so interestingly developed. Descriptions written in this one are like nothing else I've read. It sticks with you for weeks after you've finished it

Misery - Stephen King
This needs no explanation I'm sure.

Let The Right One In - John Ajvide Lindqvist
The movie adaptation of this from 2008 was brilliant, but go figure... the book was even better.
