Ahhhh! Why can't I sleep?

I have a pretty lousy sleep pattern during any school holiday. Usually it consists of a 12-15 hour day. Wake up at 12:00pm-3:00pm and go to sleep at 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Today I woke up at 2:00pm and throughout the entire night I couldn't get to sleep. I watched pulp fiction until around 2:00am then went to bed. Tried listening to my iPod whilst I lay there, which usually helps, but today it didn't. I wasn't bothered. Spent the next hour in bed just trying to get to sleep without any distractions. Put the TV on quietly and tried again, the sound usually helping me get to sleep, NOTHING!

So it's 6:30 now and I haven't slept a wink. Decided to just stay up for the rest of the day, maybe take an energy shot. I've got a party tonight, and I don't want to fall asleep half way through that,

ANYWAY, what I want to know is WHY CAN'T I SLEEP?!?! It's really bugging me because I go back to school on Monday and well...I NEED SLEEP!

Any tips from any insomniacs for getting to sleep quickly? I don't want to rely on sleeping pills or anything.

Oh, and if it helps, I didn't eat anything until around 5:00ish when my stomach was really growling.
