nah - the new one is played straight and is actually extremely effective in parts.
i agree about the 'origional' what a miserable movie.
and i agree with Des.. dakota fanning nearly drove me nuts in the remake... i would have fed her to the aliens.
I still say Peter Jackson should do a PROPER version of this film.
