Its good to have a "family" to visit. If they are even half-tolerable, whoopee.
My story - no contact with relations from father's side, little to minimal contact with relations from mother's side. Both are results of bitter, hateful long stories I wont bother putting in fine print. Dont have any idea what my cousins look like. Births happen, deaths happen, but we are away from all contact.
I am the only child of my parents too. So family = me, mother, wife & dog. Period.
