First of all... Dojo, I beg to differ. First of all, because it's far from porn... And second, because it's not entirely horror. If there's something we all know Alan Ball likes to do (and does quite well), it is to dissect this cute little society we live in. So... Yes, there are vampires, there is horror, but... I think what makes the show really, really, REALLY interesting is the fact that it uses all that to discuss prejudices, social inclusion and all that kind of stuff.
Besides that... The whole thing is done in a quite mature, grown-up way, and that also contributes to make the show interesting. I don't know about you guys, but I was tired of seeing vampires being treated (well, in the most recent years) as either cannon fodder or teenage stuff (as far as I can tell, the biggest vampire hits in these last years were things such as Underworld and Blade on one side and Twilight in the other). Not that this approach is bad in itself, it was just getting a bit repetitive.
At least... I guess the first season can be downloaded in
www.seriesbr.org. The site is in Portuguese, but the links should not be hard to find...
