A fun, random little thread inspired by a lot of the great random thoughts threads that urgeok posts. I'm starting it out by generally spotlighting things that I like and a few random thoughts. Feel free to flesh it out how you want.
Random suggestion:
Calvin and Hobbes
"Calvin, do something you hate. It builds character!"
As of a few years ago, I thought pretty much everyone in the world had read most of the grand C&H series. So when I started dropping random quotes from the strip at work, only one person picked up on it. After asking fellow co-workers and friends about it, I realized that way to many people only know Bill Wattersons classic masterpiece from the lame vehicle stickers of Calvin pissing on the motor companies symbol that the driver didn't like. This is mainly a Ford/Chevy thing (which I'll get to later) and makes my brain die.
So if you haven't taken the time to read C&H, I think you should. Watterson is a master of capturing childhood thoughts and mixing them with adult vocabulary. The trend was started by Schultz, but I think Wattersons writing is far superior and a lot more humorous.
Pizza
"Pizza's not for breakfast!"
Pizza may be the ultimate answer to global peace, or (if you're a Garfield & Friends fan) the ultimate weapon to tear the world apart. While it seems to be the ultimate vessel for being able to cater to any cuisine, it's also a well documented fact that very few people can agree on exactly what the perfect combination of pizza toppings are. If you're thinking of getting married, set down and order a pizza with your fiancee. If you agree 100%, there's a good possibility you've found your soulmate.
Literally almost everything from every cultural palate can go onto a pizza. I had a Thai pizza the other day with chicken, spinach, peppers, onions and peanut sauce. It was mighty delicious. There are also mexican pizzas, greek pizzas, breakfast pizzas and dessert pizzas. Pizza works very well on a buffet and you can have it delivered to your home if you wish.
If there are any of you who haven't tried a specialty pizza, I encourage you to do so. It can open your palate to new feastful horizons.
Car Wars
"Ford = Found on recycling dump."
I guess maybe it's because I was never big into vehicles, but I've never understood the whole automobile name brand hate thing. As far as I know, it's been going on forever. Members of my family have had arguments about it that seem to be based on no merit whatsoever. I don't drive anymore by choice, and don't plan on returning to it any time in the near future, but the name brand war situation of anything has always astounded me. I would figure that, depending on your income and image needs, most people would buy their vehicle based on the following things (in no particular order)
Fuel economy
Reliability
Asthetic appeal
Performance according to your geographic location
Cost
Family/lifestyle needs
I understand if anyone wants to make arguements according to any one of those above, but why would you buy something of equal or lesser reliability just because of name brand? Vehicles are not like clothing, they're an investment which can be extremely important to your lifestyle should you choose to drive. The whole thing seems silly to me.
