I am one who thinks 2001 is a bit overrated and over-hyped. This one is definitely above that.

As regards the other two, maybe on par or just below A Clockwork Orange and Paths of Glory (which is undoubtedly the best take on anti-war I ve seen, ever) and definitely a big notch below Dr Strangelove, which I consider to be the best Kubrick has ever done.

This would be my Kubrick preference chart :-

  A Clockwork Orange
  Paths of Glory
  The Killing
  The Shining
  Full Metal Jacket
  Barry Lyndon
  2001 A Space Odyssey

...in that order.
