Baldur's Gate 2, managed to reall endear me a great deal more. The mechanics and design is much the same whereas the scale and probably somewhere around triple that of the original and the characters are that much more fleshed out. I still get a giggle of some or the absurd Minsc would randomly proclaim or the advise he'd offer from his "Space Hamster" Boo. It was also much darker in tone, comparatively I look at the original and it feels a little too "Fluffy".
Plus it had Jon Inrenicus, a wonderful voiced pompous arch villian and one of my favorite antagnists.

Oh Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max... the laughs you gave me. I am not ever a fun of those puzzle click and point adventures but the sheer hilarity of thoes games endear me enough to see them through.
