I find any kind've overendulgence in an illicit substance pretty trashy...but yeah it does seem like you're specifically targeting those that use weed as a preferred substance - not all of them are as you've described, in fact, these sound like the kind of people normal recreational weed users probably wouldn't want around either.
If you've used your own experience to dictate how you behave and conduct yourself, that's all good, but making statements like you just have is kind of like saying that every person that drinks habitually is a lowlife, drink driving, irresponsible piece of shit - I don't drink too much myself, but I know enough to acknowledge that there's a line that some cross, and some do not.

Absolutely...it's those that don't, that give a relatively harmless substance a worse name, by misrepresenting themselves like that.
Everything can become a gateway drug, but you make the path that leads up to it, or away from it.
Just a matter of moderation, if you can do these things while maintaining some kind of productivity in life, and you're not hurting yourself or any around you, then it's all good...if you can't, then you shouldn't.
