Its ok to get opinions, shit I kept asking people in regards to the placement of mine. Didn't do any harm.

First things first, tatts are so overrated but love em. Took me 3yrs to get my first one and got mine right on a bone too ha ( back of my neck ). You gotta love and I mean absolutly love what you are getting, its gotta be something meaning full, don't just get a star cos its a star ha. Names are a bad idea IMO symbols and arty stuff are cool. But yeah just make sure it has a proper meaning to it and depending on how big you want it depends on where you get it.
Gotta animal you have/had poured your heart into, top of arm or top of leg. Only prob I see with gettin on the top of the legs is that they change so often so by the time you are 60 lets hope its not droppy. So if you are buff stay buff.

Don't be one of those ones that gets somethign for the hell of it, my friend has ( what she calls) a dragon fly on her ear..now cmon it looks bloody stupid, looks more like a bit of dirt on there.
