The fact the original was a little more serious and typed to make the character real made it stand apart from a lot of the genre then they decended into the usual stereo types for the sequal.
Don't get me wrong I love the over top shit like Dolemite and The Mack but the 1st Super fly film was slightly different and thats what made it good.
