well, to answer your quesion, it depends on the game, but for example, doom 3 installs to the Doom3 folder, if you look in there you will see a file called "doom3.exe", that would be where you copy the crack. If you have installed the game and there is a shortcut, just right click it and select open File Location, it will take you right to the folder.
And I would still runa virus scan. it doesnt mean your friend is trying to mess with you, a lot of craks are infected and if HE didnt scan it, he might accidentally pass it on to you. Its like using a condom, the risk of infection is so high, you would be dumb to just accept "Trust me", no matter how good friends you are.
