MS is all business these days. their prodcuts have become incredibly inflated, with teams of hundreds working on them, and QA departments as big or bigger. nothing but bugs slip through :)
Seriously, though. especially in a company like microsoft, people just dont have time for fun stuff like that any more, and with the levels of effort put into making sure every piece of programming code is clean and works with everythign else, you cant afford to have chunks that dont belong to the core functionality hanging out and possibly causing conflicts. Its sad, but its "progress".
