Other survivors will be thinking the same thing. You either strike early and take all the gas you can (trading some to people who beg for it IF they have enough to trade to make it worth your while), or live without fuel and find other ways to generate electricity. I would immediately confiscate two very large whole house solar generators that I've been looking at. They're on trailers already so it would be an easy ride. I would use fuel only as trade bait and although I wouldn't need it I would still take as much as I could.
