i like the way the lady that went to save her children was alive and on one of the military trucks as drayton lamented what he had just done. as if to say that they (and drayton in particular) had made all the wrong choices from the start.

it also works to point out that no matter what the survivors did the situation just kept getting more and more hopeless all the way to the crescendo of the huge creature walking over their truck to the running out of gas. when you think of the mental exhaustion and hopelessness that they must of felt it makes a lot more sense that they decided to off themselves at that particular time. after all, if all is lost why not do what you think needs to be done while you still have the nerve and before one of the "big ones" comes and opens the top of your truck like a can of tuna.

also, the ONLY time my suspension of disbelief wavered was when they went to the pharmacy and didn't run the hell out of there when they first heard the spiders crawling around. fight or flight? FLIGHT!!!!
that was the only time i realized i was watching a movie.

and in case anyone was wondering...i think this was the best flat-out movie i had seen in a while, much less horror movie.
