Thanks for sticking around and making a contribution. Accessibility over quality is often an issue, but it's an issue also present in bland brand x Lion's Gate rated R horror. There are also movies made for the hard R to choke down for public consumption, and actually, if you take a look at the PG-13 horror titles listed here, PG-13 horror is often more risky than R rated horror. R rated horror will, if anything, have more of an ingrained audience, PG-13 is more of a tossup. It's kind of a no-man's land sometimes. Hardcore gorehounds might shun a PG-13 flick and it's also easy to realize that the rating doesn't necessarily mean family friendly. How many preteens are really seeing 1408 and movies like it? At ten through thirteen, I saw every R rated movie I could. Teenagers are more, not less likely to want to watch something because it's PG-13.
