how does it waste the weed?
Every smoking device actually wastes a large amount of the "active ingredients/thc" through simply burning it as a lot of the product perishes in fire, as well as some solid waste eg, any solids that fall through.
Vapourisation allows for more of the thc to actually make its way to you, to get a similar effect - As this is the case, and the product is used in all but the solid matter (eg - you've got all the good stuff, like say, a teabag that's been used?), you end up using less to get more of an effect.
Of course the only way to prove this is to experience it - I always found it hard to imagine there was something better, but yeah, it's WAY better.
So yeah, the better vapourisers just use better technology when it comes to temperature control, and retain the optimal temperature at which thc particles become air/steam borne.

I also lean towards it for obvious health reasons - inhaling weed is no longer carcinogenic...pretty much all of the bad stuff stays in the solid "husk".

once when i was in high school i built the gravity bong and used that for a while...
I think that's what we call a bucket bong here...yeah, if you want a crazy hit, crazy fast...but it rips the shit outta your lungs.
