It's actually really cool that the machine is so easily updated. There is so much functionality in it beyond the gaming features.
I hear that the bluray player was updated for Online content support. This is really cool - that these features can be added along the way so easily.
Part of the reason I bought the system was for the media centre features - being able to stream all the video/music on my PC to the TV.
The last console I had was a PS2 - it was OK for gaming but really didn't do anything else. In the end I didn't use it all that much. The PS3 is so much more versatile.
