Well, being a fellow kitchen worker(though unemployed at the mo') Its definatly more important to get it taken care of, especially since you work around food. Your boss should have sent you to the themselves instead of telling you not to, because of health reasons. Therefor if they give you any shit about it, tell them you will go to the health board and the work board.
On another note, I hope your arm feels better. I've gotten burned more than a few times and it sucks.
