The only time I have any desire to watch the X-Files again is when they have repeats of the first 3-4 seasons or so. After that I just listen to my heart as it breaks and falls through the holes in the overly elaborate plot line.

agreed, unfortunately.
although truthfully the show had great episodes beyond the 4th season. but yeah, the last two seasons were trash, increasingly so.
HOWEVER, a point of rejoicing for all of us x-files nerds. if you haven't yet read, they're making another movie. according to chris carter, the film is going to be like a feature-length stand-alone episode (which were the best ones).
