instrumantal works allways. the mood is totally ruined, when they start playing Marilyn Manson and Korn in the background
Annoying teenagers, they should have lives... before they lose 'em.

When it comes to music, it's up to the filmmakers and the studios shouldn't interfere. There is a wild world of a difference between Marilyn Manson and KoRn. KoRn is a ridiculous choice to ever find in a horror movie, Marilyn Manson could possibly be used for an effectiveness- although this has yet to be proven. They should find him a better movie than the remake of House on Haunted Hill  Makes sense that he never put in a physical appearence.

Unfortunately there have been times when instrumental has failed a particular film. I think when choosing music to appear in a horror movie, the filmmakers should appeal before the story. It should fit the tone of the plot and the characters in the scene in which it's played. If I can picture a potential scene where it benefits to play pop music instead of traditional score- it can work.
