Hello everyone and welcome to the first ever HDC Horror Oscar Awards ceremony.
I am your host and presenter for this rather prestigious event. As you all know, our own well-respected member,
Tic, had this idea for a community project about a month back. Plenty of us became a part of it and sent in our choices in each individual category, and then the selected judges presided over the choice of winners for each HDC Horror Oscar.
Before we start, I would like to thank
Tic for this novel idea, and each of the judges who took (a long) time out of their busy schedules to contemplate and debate in each category, and finally, to all the members who went through the categories and sent in their nominations.
We will start in reverse order of the Awards, so that the best and biggest Awards are reserved for the end.
First up, is
The Horror Film Which Has/Had Made The Most Impact On The Audience. The nominees are :-
Dracula (1931)
Night of the living Dead (1968)
The Exorcist (1973)
Jaws (1975)
Halloween (1978)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
And, the HDC Horror Oscar goes to...
THE EXORCIST

Loosely based on the documented exorcism of a 12 year old boy in 1949, and showing a condensed version of the actual Rite of Exorcism.
A very controversial movie, it’s impact on audiences had them fainting, screaming and becoming genuinely terrified during the original showing of this movie, and still has the same impact today, almost 30 years after it’s release.
