@Ferret...If you're still having trouble calling after you put the country code in and the number...Your operator will explain exactly how to do it...But, I warn you...It will NOT be FREE, because you have to pay for the line exchange outside of the country...And if you're using a mobile phone, it will cost even more...You'd better ask your parents first...See if you have an international calling plan on your phone, then it won't be TOO expensive (My plan was $2 a month, to make calls to Brazil, Australia, Pakistan, England, Belgium, Norway, Canada, etcetera for 5 cents a minute)
