On TCM itself, outsiders intruding upon their lives when they're keeping to themselves, and they deal with it in the only way them slaughterhouse workers know best to do. On Leatherface, along the lines of maintaining some kind of female figure in the family, however dysfunctional they seem to be. He was originally a very confused yet sensitive and vulnerable monster. The fact that they then wrote this re-imagining of Leatherface as having deeply rooted viciousness and malevolence because of his deformity, to me misses the original's point. As a remake prequel, it's not even remotely creative. Gruesome, sure.
