Boris Karloff Collection (11 movies on 3 discs): St. Clair Vision
While best known for his portrayal of Frankenstein, Karloff is an icon of classic horror whose velvety voice and creepy demeanor made him well suited to a diversity of macabre roles. This collection is a vast swath of Karloff’s career, including many of his lesser known features that paired him up with Hollywood cult legends like Roger Corman, Francis Ford Coppola, and a young Jack Nicholson. Eleven films in total, including THE SNAKE PEOPLE, THE APE, and 4 Mr. Wong adventures, make this a monstrous Karloff marathon of horror and suspense.
Christopher Lee Signature Collection: St. Clair Vision
His tall, lanky frame drifted elegantly across the screen as he portrayed a host of creepy villains and vampires, while his deep voice made these gruesome characters seem almost charming. Christopher Lee is a legend in both European and American horror, and the three classic films collected here are a cross section of his diverse acting abilities. In THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, Lee is at his best in one of his signature roles as the demon of the night who is out not only for virgin blood, but seeks to destroy all humanity. SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE DEADLY NECKLACE features Lee in another of his classic personas, while MURDER STORY has him playing a detective who might be on the trail of his own death. All three showcase Lee as a sophisticated character actor with a hint of darkness.
