Thousand Words has nabbed "Transit," a spec thriller by Michael Gilvary about a family road trip gone horribly awry.

Palmer West and Jonah Smith, who last produced the untitled Larry Charles' religion project with Bill Maher, will produce with Alison Rosenzweig.

In "Transit," a family driving through the desert is stalked by criminals who stashed stolen money in the family's car.

The script will go out to directors shortly.

Besides the Charles/Maher project, currently in post-production, West and Smith produced Chris Gorak's "Right at Your Door," which Lionsgate is releasing Aug. 24. The duo also produced "A Scanner Darkly" and "Requiem for a Dream."

Gilvary recently did a rewrite of Arthur C. Clarke's "Rendezvous With Rama" for Morgan Freeman's Revelations Entertainment. Whitewater Films will begin shooting his coming-of-ager "Greta" in the fall.

Rosenzweig has several projects in the works, including "Darksiders" at New Line, "Sanctuary" at Sobini/Lionsgate and a remake of "Jacob's Ladder," the classic 1990 Tim Robbins' pic, which follows a traumatized Vietnam war veteran who finds out that his post-war life isn't what he believes it to be when he's attacked by horned creatures in the subway and his dead son comes to visit him.

Tell me, isnt it a wee bit too early to remake Jacob's Ladder?

*Beats head against desk* Okay, not really....:p but what the hell?!?!?! Yes, a bit early.......
