Woman Decapitated At Meat Processing Plant

Mum Cuts Off Head At Factory

UK - A woman's head was cut off in a horrific incident at a meat processing factory.

One horrified worker said: “It was absolutely appalling, like something out of a horror film — everyone here is in shock.”

Lynda Trebilcock, aged 53, from Heelands, Buckinghamshire, was killed at the DeliCo plant, in Tattenhoe, Milton Keynes, in the early hours of Saturday.

A police spokesman said: “An investigation was launched which concluded that there had been no foul play and the death has now been passed to the Heath and Safety Executive (HSE) to investigate.”

A spokeswoman for the HSE said that investigators are now at the scene.

An inquest into the death is due to open this week.

The married mum of two, had been a cleaning supervisor for only two months at the Delico plant which was close to her home.

She was involved in cleaning a machine at about 3am on Saturday when the tragedy occurred.

Bernard Hoggarth, Delico chief executive, said: “This is horrendous for her family and for everyone who was working at the factory at the time.

“It’s such a tragic incident — we’ve never experienced anything like it.”

Health and Safety Executive spokeswoman Barbara Hewitt confirmed the woman had been decapitated.

A probe has been launched at the processing plant, which produces pre-cooked ham and pork for supermarkets and high street shops.

The insider added: “There are some dangerous pieces of industrial machinery that are used to slice up ham.

“But I can’t see how something like this could have happened accidentally.”

Mr Hoggarth revealed: “The machine was not a slicer, it doesn’t have blades and there were no exposed parts.”

Ambulance spokeswoman Helen Robinson said: “The injuries were so severe that the woman was already dead at the scene.” The Delico plant was sold by Adolf Winter to Hull-based sausage-maker Cranswick for £17.9million in November.
