The Indian education system puts strong emphasis on mathematics and science resulting in a large number of science and engineering graduates. Coupled with these their good knowledge of English language has resulted in a skill set that enables the country to take advantage of the current international demand for IT and ITEs.
The success enjoyed by many offshore companies in outsourcing business process operations to India has encouraged many to start outsourcing their high-end knowledge work as well. Cost savings, operational efficiencies, availability and access to a highly skilled and talented workforce and improved quality are all underlying factors in KPO outsourcing to India.
KPO short for Knowledge Processing Outsourcing calls for the application of specialized domain pertinent knowledge of a high level. The KPO involves a component of BPO, Research Process Outsourcing (RPO) and Analysis Proves Outsourcing (APO). KPO business entities provide typical domain-based processes, advanced analytical skills and business expertise, rather than just process expertise. KPO derives its strength from the depth of knowledge, experience and judgment factor; BPO in contrast is more about size, volume and efficiency.

Sorry, but none of this matters - cos the same is happening to alot of people in the western zone. Are there any jobs left for the long-term citizens of other countries? Other than IT, IT, IT, IT, IT, IT. (Check out the majority of tv adverts for bettering oneself in life, job wise!!). And what does IT involve in many jobs today?
A sound knowledge of Word, SpreadSheet, Publisher, Stock Control, PAYE - blah de blah.
Basic shit - nothing exceptional.
If you are worrying about the indians or asians taking over the IT jobs - let them have them - cos thats all that is left. We dont have a substantial education system anymore, we dont have fear of authority anymore, we dont have a voice as a majority anymore...........
The thinking man has died.............................................. .......he's too busy worrying about his mortgage or where he is going to buy the next designer pair of jeans for his kids anymore..........or if he is too fat....... or if that guy on the street is going to stab him for looking the *wrong* way!
