Of course you could always argue that you can never do enough to deter internet deviants, but knee-jerk reactions to this subject are commonplace in society and the forums warning that 'your private messager might want to terrorise you' could put a lot of new members off.

heres my solution to you younguns..especially females.
Stop locking yourself away in your room while surfing the net and becoming too comfortable with every strange male who pms you.
More than likely..he is not the same age as you..neither are his motives for asking your contact details pure innocence.
Stop being secretive should this happen to you..straight away..tell somebody..especially an adult in your family.
My 14 yr old has a laptop for homework purposes only as i have locked her out of all forums..
if she wants to visit her sites..she does from my computer..in my room ..under my watchful eye..and when somebody asks for her contact details...i jump online and talk to them.
