I just got in the door from seeing this one less than ten minutes ago.
It's not a masterpiece by any means, but I really enjoyed it. I *totally* felt like I was watching a trashy 70s drive-in flick. Not only due to the gore, but also because of the hillbilly music, and the strange minor characters who constantly had me going "what the fuck is this all about?" (i.e., the effiminate-voiced, Santa-bearded store owner . . . the "party man" deputy . . . "Grimm the Skater Dude" . . . . and *especially* the weird little karate-chopping kid who said nothing but "Pancakes!").
Bizarre.
I dug it. I'd see it again. It had its flaws, but I am really looking forward to seeing what director Eli Roth has up his sleeve for future projects. The guy obviously knows and respects the genre, and he's definitely got plenty of talent . . . no doubt about that . . . .
That's all from me for now.
