Men Stabbed Teenager 133 Times And Used His Head As A Bowling Ball
Head 'Used As A Bowling Ball'
Australia - A jury has retired in the case of two men accused of stabbing a Brisbane teenager 133 times and using his decapitated head as a bowling ball and a puppet.
James Patrick Roughan, 27, and Christopher Clark Jones, 23, of Sandgate, north of Brisbane, have pleaded not guilty to murdering 17-year-old Morgan Jay Shepherd on March 29, 2005.
Both have pleaded guilty to being an accessary after the fact and interfering with a corpse.
The jury in the Supreme Court in Brisbane has heard almost two weeks of evidence.
During the trial, the court was told the victim, who lived in a Brisbane youth hostel, had been drinking with the accused at Roughan's residence when a fight broke out.
Prosecutor Don McKenzie told the court the fight ended with Mr Shepherd being stabbed 133 times and decapitated.
Mr McKenzie told the court that although Mr Roughan and Mr Jones had sought to blame each other for Mr Shepherd's death, both men were allegedly involved.
Police allegedly found a tomahawk, knife, handsaw and pruning saw stained with the victim's blood in Mr Roughan's shed, as well as blood-stained clothing featuring Mr Jones's DNA.
It is also alleged the accused used Mr Shepherd's head as a bowling ball and a puppet before burying his body in a shallow grave at Dayboro, northwest of Brisbane.
