I know this is an old thread, but I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was really interesting to watch how the cultural differences between the Chinese, Korean, and Japanese made some of the more traditional Asian horror features take on a little different connotation. I was surprised as a huge Miike fan, that I didn't like Box as much. To me it just felt like he went in with the intention of blowing the other offerings out of the water with his usual stunning cinematography and visuals and just left the flow of the story out. Dumplings was, for me, by far the most interesting of the lot.
Just a note, Three Extremes II, nowhere near as good, in my opinion. Where this one left me going...extreme?! the second one was not even close to extreme on anyone's list. At least the first one had some provocative ideas. As usual, Asian horror will always leave the gorehounds wanting more because the subtlety doesn't always bridge the gap, but even people who like the ethereal, other world type will be disappointed in the second one.
