Oh...I understand...But, I still stand by what I said...I wasn't talking about the person in my example either, because it's obvious to EVERYONE who DOES know her, that she wants nothing to do with her kids (despite what she says otherwise...Actions speak louder than words), and it's also obvious that either ONE of her 2 jobs could easily pay all of her bills, if she didn't waste so much damned money on HERSELF
Jobs that don't pay much?...If the only jobs available in a certain area are jobs that don't pay much, there's a good chance that it's a relatively low-income area...In this case, living expenses usually aren't that much...the cost of living would most likely be lower, and it would still even out...
Don't have the skills to get a higher paying job?...Dustin doesn't have any special training, or degrees...Just a High School education...He doesn't make a lot, but we still pay all of our bills, and have enough left to goof off with the kids from time to time...It all depends on how you manage the money you have...And the amount of bills you have depends entirely on the individual...WE don't use credit cards, we purchase vehicles that we can pay cash for, the only loan we have is our mortgage (which would be equivalent to a person paying rent)...We have no cell phone...Our ONLY bills are House Payment, Water, Sanitation, Gas and Electric, Telephone, Internet, Insurance and Cable...We didn't want any more bills than that, so we don't have them...He gets paid every 2 weeks...That's 2 checks a month...The first check is used to make the house payment...The second check is used to pay all the rest of the bills...Any money that we have left over from both checks, is used to buy horror movies, games, and take the kids out...We never go out by ourselves...We buy vehicles with our income tax refund
There are two ways to have more money:
1) Make more
2) Spend less
We choose the number 2 option, so that we will have more time for the kids...Right now Dustin is working a LOT of hours...Not because we need the money, but because the hotel is in desperate need of help...There are so many jobs here, that people job hop a LOT, and the hotel can't keep people for very long...So, Dustin fills in every time someone is needed...He's kinda obligated to do so, because all of the other employees are already doing as much as they can, too...But, NORMALLY he works 40 hours a week...And we do just fine
As for the part-time work?...A part-time job is usually 20 hours a week...Working 2 of THOSE is no different than having ONE job...It's still 40 hours a week...You still have at LEAST 8 hours a day to spend with your kids, and 8 hours to sleep
If a single person works one job, manages their money well and STILL doesn't make enough to pay all of their bills...they can either get a higher paying job...Or get assistance like food stamps...I'm sure that if they don't have enough to pay their bills, they would qualify for some type of assistance, so that they would still have time for their kids...Also, if you're single and have kids, wouldn't you be getting child support?...That would help, too
I'm just saying that if WE (and everyone we know) can do it...So can everyone else...If they CHOOSE to
