There's a book called 'The Darwinian Awards' or something like. It features those who have done a service to the human gene pool by removing their genes from it, in various stupid ways. Well worth a read - there are some crackers in there.
One that deserves to be in is a guy who died in our city recently. He and a couple of his mates were stealing lead off a roof on an industrial estate near where I live, when they were interrupted by the police. They ran away, and the police chased after them. Now their escape route took them across the river - one ran across the bridge, and the other two went into the river to swim - only one came out the other side. It turns out the other guy - who drowned - had tried to swim the river WITH A BACKPACK OF LEAD! D'oh!
