Hell, you could even have the ends covered in caustic soda...I don't know many people that wouldn't think twice about fucking with you if you planted one in their shoulder or cheek right to the bone, or even just in fleshy areas...they try and dig it out to use on you, and they're pissing blood, and in quite a bit of pain by the time you hit them with a second.

But then, I'd really rather a tazer.
Not that I'm generally inclined to use weapons, if I felt I was up against something or someone I couldn't handle, I wouldn't hesitate.

Personally, I think the throwing darts would make a pretty terrible defensive weapon. Pepper spray, taser etc. is way better.
