Del Toro makes a great human monster. Look at him in Sin City. He plays a character that's such a powder keg that lycanthropy would only be redundant. Combine that with sensitive, expressive features much like those of Lon Chaney Jr. Both of them can express more with the lines in their face than other actors can with their whole bodies available. The Wolfman was also made over 60 years ago and has not had a direct remake in spite of being a member of the Universal Monster canon. Dracula has been reinterpreted, Frankenstein has been reinterpreted, but Larry Talbot remains the Larry Talbot of Wolfman, Frankenstein meets the Wolfman and the House of movies. The remake will remind people of his place in monster canon.
