Now, the way I see it, X was made for pure enjoyment more than any other installment. The plot was so far over-the-top that it was impossible to take serious, and from there they just has fun with some clichés, some CGI and plenty of fake blood. Should have turned out better, but could have been a whole lot worse.
I'll agree with you that "Jason Lives" had a good idea with bringing back the "campy, low-budge(t) horror" of Part III. My problem with it was that it took the idea way too far. Instead of being a fun, campy slasher like Part III, it tried to hard to advance the concept and fell on its ass: It turned more into a spoof than a sequel, and I couldnt enjoy it at all.
