Recapping...

Considering it an imitation of their top grossing film, a major Studio tried filing an injuction to keep this movie off the screen. The injuction was avioded when the powerful director of the Top Grosser insisted that this film was a parody, not a copy.

it "spawned" a sequel in which the monsters from the original film could suddenly fly.

it was remade in the mid 90s, but much of the creature footage was simply recycled from the original

it is currently being remade again

the director has contributed to both seasons of Masters of Horror

the creatures in this film are small - director of this film has made quite a few movies with diminutive creatures bent on destruction.

The creatures in this movie are not fantastical, but a real threat...just not in the United States, where the film is set.
