It was hard to tell who was who or what was going on because there wasn't any light. Now, I realize they are in a cave & it's supposed to be dark, but I don't pay money to go sit and stare into the darkness of a cave, I pay to be entertained. The acting was good, the gore was average. The nude cavemen were pretty lame & suprisingly pussy. The ending got just a tad confusing. All in all, it wasn't my favorite film of the year, but I didn't hate it either...

Ironically, I felt these were all strong points of the film. The darkness and illusion fucked with our heads, bringing back the old Lewton strategy of "scaring without showing". Sometimes panic is the scariest feeling possible.

Halfway through the film we are shown that these "monsters" do have weaknesses, and they are, in a way, human. This evokes a feeling of disgust and pity, and raises a battle in which we really don't know who will triumph.

It's one of those films with a hugely fictional basis we actually find ourselves believing. Or at least that's the way I felt about it.
