More often than not I keep comparing it mentally with Burton's
Planet of the Apes, and it wins easily by a mile. Dont know why I do it, maybe because of almost parallel plots and the almost similar enigmatic ending (other than the fact that they are both remakes, but of course).
The Time Machine is one remake I have really loved, other than Dawn & TCM. Maybe its time other remakes started to put some "class" into 'em.
