I have a weird way of perceiving it. It looks like it was a much easier film to make. Much of the shark action takes place closer to shore, and I imagine that the mechanical shark rig setups were much easier to achieve because of this. The final confrontation occurs in a sort of stationary zone right near land, which also looks very convenient. The effects people were probably pretty happy about that.

It occurs to me that this was a nice experience for the actors returning from the first film to play their characters once again...the first film was a huge moneymaker, so people coming back probably were compensated well. So it was more money to do less work, I figure. Sort of reenforces the idea that if you really work hard on something, karma will do you a good turn. So when I see this, I see people riding a gravy train for a little while and having fun.

I am also a total sucker for monster-in-the-water pictures. If you have some rubber monster lunging out of the water to bite people, I'll watch it even if it's bad. And Jaws 2 is actually not bad at all, it's pretty good.
