The really weird thing about tsunamis is that the animals are able to detect their impending arrival before we humans and all of our scientific gadgets are. That big one that hit up Indonesia and Sri Lanka in '04 killed thousands of humans but the only animals it killed were the ones trapped inside homes. All the wild animals ran inland to safety a few minutes before the waves started hitting.
