There are so many better action flicks that I have a hard time buying that this is where the appeal comes from. The notion that Brandon Lee's death brings extra attention to the film certainly makes sense, but I don't think it can be the whole story. My theory about the popularity of The Crow rests on the following:
1. It is one of the first modern goth-inspired films, and those sad little goth kids need something to look up to.
2. The revenge tale it tells is perfect for these same goth kids who inevitably get picked on in high school. The film expresses their desire for revenge against their tormenters.
