I completely understand that...But, if someone KNOWS that a person is a slut, and they choose to accept the risks of sleeping with them, that's their business...Personally, I don't know anyone who WOULD sleep with a slut, and I definitely wouldn't...But, some people (people who like to have sex, without having relationships) are into it, and I say that's their right...

The possibility of catching diseases scares me

And, I believe that one of the biggest ways that sluts can hurt themselves (besides diseases), is that if/when they ever DO decide to get married or have a boyfriend/girlfriend, their choices would most likely be very limited...I don't think that many people would want to try to have a relationship with someone who has slept with hundreds of people, for LOTS of reasons...BUT...If the slut NEVER plans on having a relationship, I don't see how they could be hurting themselves other than with diseases...
